Precision seed placement has been the groundwork of the Milton Precision Planter. Starco's "high rise" tool bar linkage is adjustable at 75, 100 and 150 lbs. for planter down pressure when flat planting, or planting on beds. The heavy gauge steel discs open a clean furrow for exact seed placement. The Milton Precision Planter separates itself from all other planters by carrying each seed on a custom machined wheel that rotates inside a formed downspout and delivers each seed into the furrow at a specific depth. The Milton seed drop is very short with no chance to ricochet down a long tube and bounce into a furrow. In fact, the Milton wheel and downspout carries the seed to a drop point of less than 3inches! Also, static electricity is never generated to interfere with seed spacing. Each custom machined seed wheel delivers exact seed spacing from ½" to 80" down the row without injury. Seeding depth is controlled with Starco’s machined depth bands that range from shallow planting at 3/8" to deep seeding at 2". Growers may also choose depth control frames versus depth bands — a choice that many planters in the industry cannot offer.
After the seed is uniformly covered, Starco offers eight different pack wheels to firm the seed in virtually any soil type or condition. Two types of forward press wheels can be added to firm or mix the soil in front of the seeding operation. Growers can be assured that every seed planted is given equal position to emerge and produce. Starco also offers a wide range of optional accessories that include customized seed wheels for over 50 crops and quick-change hubs that ease seed wheel changes.
